King’s writing, and the far greater prevalence of apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic books today it was definitely time to give it another look.Įven as a premise, The Stand is rather unique. For whatever reason it’s been quite literally half a lifetime since I first read The Stand so both due to my recent rediscovery of a love of Mr. Certainly (unlike say The Tommyknockers or Misery) it isn’t because I didn’t enjoy it first time around, nor is it, despite its definitely extended length, because I found its beginning long winded or hard to get into. I don’t know why it's taken me so long to reread the Stand.
